Simtars is seeking a professional with a strong scientific, technical, or engineering background to lead a small team of engineers and developers in the SafeGas team. Reporting directly to the branch Director, this role is central to managing implementation projects and delivering innovative solutions that enhance safety and operational outcomes for health and safety within the mining sector.

This role requires a proven leader with exceptional project management skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Experience in the mining industry, combined with the confidence to engage directly with customers, is highly valued.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with the technical knowledge and leadership capability to guide their team in achieving shared goals.

A degree/qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or agreed equivalent is required. If you are interested in this job we encourage you to read the attached role description and talk to the contact officer.

• Applicants are required to undergo a health assessment under the Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme.
• Applicants are required to participate in an after-hours remote support roster.
• Applicants are occasionally required to work outside of standard hours of work at short notice.
• Applicants are required to frequently travel as often as required (interstate and intrastate) and occasionally to remote locations. This may occur at short notice and sometimes involve absences of greater than two weeks.
• Applicants are required to hold an open driver's license (minimum class C, manual or automatic) is essential for regional travel.
• Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months and may be considered for other vacancies (identical or similar).
• Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section 52 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
• Prior to appointment, current and previous public sector employees are required to disclose any history of serious disciplinary action in accordance with section 71 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
• All employees are required to disclose any interest/s that conflict, may conflict or may be perceived to conflict with the discharge of their duties in accordance with section 89, 182 or 183 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
