Nurse Unit Manager- Acute Services Unit

An exciting opportunity exists for a Nurse Unit Manager- Acute Services Unit to lead and manage the coordination of clinical practice and person-centred nursing care working with the multi-disciplinary team. The Nurse Unit Manager will provide both clinical and managerial leadership which ensures the efficient and effective use of human and material resources in the Acute Services Unit within a dynamic health environment. The Acute Services Unit is a 26 bed acute medical and surgical ward. The primary role of the ward is to provide timely, accessible and appropriate adult inpatient health services using evidence based best practice care to patients with acute illness or injury, and short stay post-surgical care.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the achievement of positive patient outcomes by:
    • Ensuring that the unit is adequately and appropriately resourced regarding material, financial and human resources.
    • Participating directly or indirectly in the delivery of person-centred nursing care.
    • Taking accountability and responsibility for ensuring practice is evidence based; participating in research and continually monitoring and evaluating nursing activity in the specialty area in relation to the service's performance indicators and relevant standards.
    • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with the multidisciplinary team at unit, service and organisational levels.
  • Embed a positive workplace culture by developing and maintaining an effective nursing team that works collaboratively with colleagues, patients and their carers.
  • Provide nursing leadership that drives system and quality improvement initiatives and change management.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for own actions and delegation of nursing care to Registered Midwives (RMs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs).

Remuneration value up to $164 212 p.a., comprising salary between $132 562 - $143 924 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7).
