An exciting opportunity exists for a Multi Professional Assistant (Clinical/Allied Health Assistant) for the Eat, Walk, Engage program that improves care for older people in hospital. The program significantly reduces delirium and promotes recovery in acute care wards by focussing on the key elements of nutrition and hydration, mobility and engagement in meaningful cognitive activity. Eat Walk Engage is helping hospitals become more older-person friendly by supporting local leadership, education and training and environmental redesign.
This position is ideally suited to someone with an Allied Health Assistant or Assistant in Nursing background who is enthusiastic about working with and promoting the health of elderly patients. This role will work with the nursing and allied health team on Ward 5B, to identify patients who are at risk of delirium and would benefit from the ‘Eat Walk Engage' program. This role will then complete a range of therapeutic programs as delegated by the team (physiotherapy, speech pathology, occupational therapy, social work, dietetics) targeting the three key elements that may be with individual patients or in a group setting. The role may also be asked to contribute to the education of the multidisciplinary to promote the key characteristics of the ‘Eat Walk Engage' program and be responsible for managing nonclinical tasks, to contribute to the efficient operation of the clinical service.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Support Multidisciplinary team to identify patients suitable for the EWE program
- Provide a defined range of treatments as prescribed by the AHP and work under their general direction including using decision support tools, clinical pathways and patient guidelines.
- Perform safe practice in the performance of material handling tasks, patient manual handling and positioning techniques.
Salary rates: $34.53- $36.30 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (CA3) ( Fixed term temporary part time position, 32 hrs p.f. for six months).
