An opportunity exists for a Fitter who will provide an in-house capability to effectively plan and undertake corrective maintenance, planned maintenance and develop fitting skills and workshop practices related to health care plant and equipment. The Fitter is responsible for carrying out efficient and cost-effective maintenance related to boilers, steam reticulation equipment, pressure vessels, generators, specialised surgical tools and instruments, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other mechanical technologies.

Key Responsibilities include:
- The Fitter shall provide assistance to other Trades and Contractors where skills and experience permit and carry out minor new works as directed.
- Carry out Fitting and general mechanical maintenance work in accordance with relevant Qld Health Task Specifications, National, State and Local Government and other statutory body regulations and standards.
- Carry out checks, servicing, testing, performance testing and fault finding on Prime Mover power sources for generators, boilers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, medical air compressors and systems, sterilisers, autoclaves and other steam equipment and reticulation systems.
- Carry out aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel fabrication and repairs to trolleys, beds and repairs to stethoscopes, wheelchairs, IV poles, kitchen utensils and precision surgical implements requiring sharpening/repairs and other minor mechanical and fitting tasks.
Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $103 065 p.a., comprising salary rates: $38.59 - $45.55 p.h. employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HBEA9-HBEA6) (Fixed term temporary part position, 38 hrs p.f. for 6 months).
