Registered Nurse - Mental Health Intensive Care Unit

We’re excited to welcome a Registered Nurse to our Mental Health and Specialised Services department. The Melaleuca Unit is an 8 bed Mental Health Intensive Care Unit that is a specialised unit purposefully designed to provide assessment, support and interventions to individuals that require more intensive treatment and monitoring within the acute phase of their illness. The Registered Nurse leads and delivers person centred nursing care within a dynamic health environment based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. Roles within this level consolidate comprehensive educational preparation as the nurse moves from novice to proficient practitioner and exercises greater levels of autonomy and professional judgement in the clinical setting.

Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Mental Health and Specialised Service
- The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, Mental Health and Specialised Service, (SCHHS-MHSS) operates within an integrated model of care that provides a range of mental health services across community and hospital settings.
- Continuity of care and the promotion of patient safety and quality are paramount and informed by evidence-based practice consistent with national, state and local mental health policies and directions.
- The underpinning principles and commitment of the SCHHS-MHSS include the provision of services which are person centred and recovery oriented with the aim of assisting individuals with mental illness to realise their optimal potential as individuals and as valued citizens of the community.
Salary between $3171.90 - $4068.50 p.f. (f/t) or salary rates: $41.73 - $53.53 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 5) (Multiple positions available up until March 2026) Applications will remain current for the duration of the vacancy.
