Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

The primary purpose of this temporary role is to deliver complex regulatory and non-regulatory environmental health services across the health service district to protect and promote human health, and to prevent risks to the community from environmental health hazards. You will provide high-level professional advice on environmental health matters, exercising independent judgement when supporting peers and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

The Sunshine Coast Public Health Unit is made up of a diverse multidisciplinary team, including medical officers, nurses, environmental health officers, epidemiologist, data officer, and administrative staff. The unit undertakes a broad range of functions, including communicable disease control, immunisation, surveillance, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Provide high level clinical expertise, knowledge and problem-solving skills to research and deliver complex environmental health services, across multiple clinical areas and across the health service district, to identify evidence-based options and recommend appropriate interventions and enforcement strategies.
• Exercise independent judgement and high-level evidentiary skills and experience to undertake complex investigations under relevant public health legislation, with infrequent clinical supervision.
• Provide non-routine clinical advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare comprehensive reports and submissions on environmental health issues to management.

Remuneration value up to $157,359 p.a., comprising salary between $128,169 - $137,918 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4). (Two fixed term temporary full time positions, 76 hrs p.f. until 25/07/2027). Applications will remain current for 12 months.
