The Clinical Nurse (CN) role is to lead and deliver person centred nursing care at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. The CN is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making. They have the responsibility for professional leadership in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 and an opportunity to work collaboratively to lead practice changes and clinical innovation.

The 4A Acute Geriatrics, Stroke & Neurology inpatient unit provides access for the delivery of secondary and tertiary acute care to medical adult inpatients. This unit focuses on providing exception care to patients, through a multidisciplinary approach.  Inpatient Unit 4A is a 20-bed open unit and 8-bed secure unit, specialising in the acute care of Stroke, Neurology and Geriatric patients.

Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Sunshine Coast Health Values.
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, work health and safety and ethical behaviour.

Remuneration value up to $131 900 p.a., comprising salary between $107 960 - $115 604 p.a. (f/t), or salary rates: $54.54 - $58.30 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6 (1) (Full-Time & Part-Time position available).
