The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS) provides integrated, evidence-based care for patients, carers and families living with a life limiting illness within the SCHHS hospitals and community. The SPCS provides a level five palliative care service for adults and a level four service for adolescents and paediatric patients as defined by the Queensland Health Clinical Service Capability Framework (CSCF) V3.2. Care is provided in accordance with the National Palliative Care Standards (2018).

We're excited to welcome a Nurse Unit Manager to our Specialist Palliative Care Service Consult Liaison.

The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS) provides integrated, evidence-based care for patients, carers and families living with a life limiting illness within the SCHHS hospitals and community. The SPCS provides a level five palliative care service for adults and a level four service for adolescents and paediatric patients as defined by the Queensland Health Clinical Service Capability Framework (CSCF) V3.2. Care is provided in accordance with the National Palliative Care Standards (2018).

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is required to deliver operational management and expert nursing leadership at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. The NUM SPCS - Consult Liaison (CL) leads specialist professional nursing practice within the specialist community palliative care team, coordinating the provision of contemporary, person-centred care across the districts of Sunshine Coast and Gympie. The SPCS-CL team aims to consistently deliver excellence in specialist palliative care nursing and multidisciplinary care. 

Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Applies professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and midwifery and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Responsible for enacting strategies that supports a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.
  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understand to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Public Service values.

Remuneration value up to $87 032 p.a., comprising salary rates $66.85 - $72.58 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NGR7) (Permanent Part-Time position, 40 hrs p.f.).
