An exciting opportunity exists for a Administration Officer to join our Emergency Department team. The Administration Officer - Emergency provides a high level of confidential administrative support for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS). This role will provide frontline 24/7 administration support within the Emergency Department (ED). This position works a 24/7 rotating roster and applicants will need to be available for all shifts as rostered. The incumbent is responsible for the prioritisation and planning of workloads. This role exists in an environment of interruption and sometimes difficult public/customer relations and functions with a degree of independence. This role is ‘supported and governed’ by established policies/procedures to ensure the desired level of service for patients is achieved according to departmental standards and SCHHS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a patient focused support service by undertaking the designated administrative tasks on a day-to-day basis, whilst working autonomously and alongside colleagues, whilst complying to a 2/74 rotational shift roster.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and family members whilst demonstrating understanding, empathy, patience and a positive service focus.
  • Consult with patients/family members on arrival to obtain correct details for completion of demographic details and record this information accurately into the hospital information systems used within the emergency department
  • Provide high quality confidential administration support to the ED Access & Flow team.

Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $97 656 p.a, comprising salary rates: $38.81 - $43.16 p.h, employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (A03) (temporary PT position, for up to 5 months).
