An exciting opportunity exists for an Undergraduate Student in Nursing/Midwifery who will assist with the provision of person-centred nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM). The Women’s Health Unit in Gympie is a 12 physical bed unit with 2 Birth Suites. It is a Level 3 Service Capability Facility and does an average of 300 births per year. The unit accommodates female surgical patients as well as female medical outliers. All nursing and midwifery staff work in antenatal, postnatal and birth suite areas as well as caring for the surgical and medical patients.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 2, the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
Salary rates: $33.88 - $34.33 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 2) (Fixed Term Temporary Part time position available for six months, 40 hrs p.f.).
