About the Role:
The HOD leads curriculum development and teaching excellence in ITD and Digital Technology, aligning programs with school priorities and departmental initiatives. This role supports innovation, student engagement, and future-focused learning in technology education.
The ITD curriculum spans across both junior and senior secondary contexts. In Years 7-10, students engage in Junior Design Technology aligned to Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, developing foundational design and technical skills. In the senior years, the faculty delivers applied learning through Building and Construction Skills, Engineering Skills, and Furnishing Skills—providing students with authentic, hands-on learning experiences connected to industry standards.
With a strong commitment to student pathways and employability, Beenleigh SHS has plans to expand its vocational education offerings within the ITD facility. The Head of Department will play a pivotal role in leading this growth, driving excellence in curriculum delivery, safety compliance, and the integration of digital technologies to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving technical world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage curriculum planning, assessment, and delivery in ITD and Digital Technology.
- Promote high-quality, industry-relevant teaching practices and support staff development.
- Foster safe, inclusive, and engaging workshop and digital learning environments.
- Build strong relationships with students, staff, industry partners, and the wider school community.
- Support implementation of school and Department of Education strategic goals.
Accountability Accountable to the Principal or delegate, operating within the school's and Department's policies and strategic frameworks.
