Yarrabilba State Secondary College is seeking an outstanding and strategic Head of Department - Student Services, known within the school as Head of Department - Student Engagement, to lead student behaviour and engagement for Year 8 in Term 4, 2025. This opportunity requires a leader with strong flexibility, independence, relational leadership, and excellent communication skills. As an instructional leader, you will focus on developing teacher capability around student engagement and wellbeing. About the Role  

As the Head of Department - Student Services, you will work closely with the Principal and Executive Leadership Team to lead initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, engagement, and learning. In direct collaboration with the Deputy Principals, your primary focus will be fostering safe, respectful, and productive learning environments, particularly in the context of Year 8 student behaviour management. You will also play a key role in strengthening school-family partnerships through effective communication with parents. This role may include supporting other subject or administrative areas as required, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture for students, staff, and the wider community. 

Your Responsibilities 

As the Head of Department - Student Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Work closely with senior leadership team, year co-ordinators, and external agencies to ensure inclusive and effective support for our students.
  • Monitor and analyse data on student attendance, engagement, and behaviour.
  • Promote a culture of care, inclusion, and high expectations throughout the school community.
  • Support access to mentoring or mental health support for vulnerable students.
