Your Role

As the Principal Education Officer you will:

  • Provide direct, high-level support to the Regional Director in delivering the Department's vision and advancing regional priority work, with a particular focus on student engagement and reading improvement.
  • Track, analyse, and report on regional data trends in student engagement and reading, including alignment with system-level indicators and performance expectations.
  • Provide insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Present data in clear, actionable formats for regional leadership teams, system partners, and stakeholders.
  • Provide informed advice to schools and the Regional Director on disciplinary responses, ensuring all recommendations align with relevant legislation, policy, and departmental frameworks.
  • Lead the quality assurance of outward-facing regional events, ensuring they are well-designed, aligned to priorities, and consistently reflect the professionalism and strategic direction of the region.
  • Engage effectively with key regional partners, networks, and stakeholder groups to strengthen cross-sector collaboration, enhance communication, and support shared approaches to regional priorities.

Your capabilities will include:

  • School leadership experience and demonstrated ability to identify and address priority school improvement areas
  • Strategic leadership skills, with the ability to think critically and act on the broader purpose of the education system
  • Experience in making complex decisions and the provision of advice to senior leaders on key and emerging issues while considering the policy and procedure an understanding of the Student Discipline procedure and school disciplinary absence processes.
