Pimpama State Primary College has an exciting opportunity for a Guidance Officer to join our team. The successful applicant will work across both general and Student Wellbeing Guidance.

Qualified Guidance Officers are invited to express their interest in joining our Support Services Team in a full-time temporary position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. In this role, you will provide expert leadership and support in developing and implementing wellbeing programs and services that drive positive educational and personal outcomes for our students.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide counselling, advocacy and advice to students, parents and teachers on educational, behavioural, mental health, career development and family issues, supporting student wellbeing and decision-making.
  • Assess and support student needs through observation and psychoeducational assessment to identify learning difficulties, disabilities or emotional concerns, and recommend appropriate educational adjustments and interventions.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to build strong partnerships with parents, school staff and external agencies, delivering coordinated case management, referrals and comprehensive student support.
  • Support school processes and student programs including behaviour support, student protection, gifted education, risk management, SET planning, career pathways and the development of individualised support plans.
  • Maintain ethical and professional practice by balancing confidentiality with appropriate information sharing, keeping accurate records, responding to critical incidents, supporting student transitions, and engaging in ongoing professional development and capacity building for staff and families.
