Suitably qualified applicants are invited to express their interest in short term temporary/relieving opportunities as a Guidance Officer (Wellbeing Workforce & General) within the South East Region.
This applicant pool is open to candidates that meet the mandatory requirements of the role as detailed in the attached role description.
Applications will be assessed through a merit process in Term 1 and suitable candidates may be reviewed and considered throughout 2026, when short term temporary engagements are required.

As the General - Guidance Officer your priorities will include:
- Provide counselling, psychoeducational assessments, and tailored support to students, teachers, and parents on educational, behavioural, mental health, career, and family matters.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external agencies to deliver case management, referrals, and support services that enhance student wellbeing and engagement in education
- Assist students with decision-making related to their personal, social, emotional, and career development.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualised plans to address learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and student protection needs, ensuring appropriate educational adjustments and interventions.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and privacy standards, balancing ethical considerations with legal requirements, while maintaining professional records and sharing information appropriately to support student outcomes.
The Guidance Officer - Wellbeing role in South East Region schools will be to provide direct support to students for mild to moderate mental health difficulties under the department's Student Wellbeing Package. They will add to the support already available to students and become an integral part of the school's existing school-based support team. The GO-Wellbeing roles are often hybrid opportunities as both general Guidance Officer and GO-Wellbeing roles.
Priorities of the role include:
- Identification, support and therapeutic intervention planning for students' mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and mental health and wellbeing issues for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Provide support and ensure safety plans for the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide.
- Support promotion, prevention, awareness and capability building regarding mental health and wellbeing within the school community and school leadership teams.
- Collect data relevant to the role of Guidance Officer - Student Wellbeing, including pre- and post-intervention data and recording this data, alongside other key data, on a tracking tool for regional and state-wide data collection purposes.
