We are seeking a dedicated and community-focused individual to join our team as a Community Education Councillor (Identified).

This role is designed for a candidate who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, in line with the school's commitment to cultural representation and community leadership for our Indigenous students and wider community.

The town of Beaudesert is a regional hub located 80kms south of  the Brisbane  CBD.

It has strong ties to agriculture, and a relaxed and friendly feel. 

Beaudesert State High School offers an excellent and comprehensive curriculum, catering to students pursuing many different career paths.

We have an extensive focus on literacy and numeracy, with tailored modules that build strong foundational skills, all the way to extension subjects that challenge the most academically able students.

The Community Education Councillor will play a key role in strengthening relationships between education providers, students, families, and the wider community. You will advocate for culturally appropriate educational practices, support community engagement initiatives, and contribute to the development of programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a liaison between the community and education stakeholders
  • Supporting the delivery of culturally responsive education initiatives
  • Providing advice on policies, programs, and services affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners
  • Promoting community awareness and participation in education opportunities
  • Representing community perspectives in decision-making

The Perfect Fit:

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of community needs, and a passion for improving educational outcomes. Experience working within education, community services, or a related field is ideal.
