Ormeau Woods State High School is seeking a Head of Department - Senior School to join the team.

As Head of Department - Senior School, you will provide strategic and instructional leadership across Years 11 and 12, with a key focus on Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) delivery, compliance and student management.

You will work collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure high-quality senior pathways, strong student outcomes and effective wellbeing and engagement practices.

Located at the corner of Goldmine Road and Minka Lane, Ormeau Woods State High School has been part of the community since its opening in 2009.

Starting with just 250 students in Years 8 and 9, the school has grown to include students from Years 7 to 12, with most coming from local feeder schools: Norfolk Village State School, Ormeau State School, and Woongoolba State School.

This role requires a highly organised and relational leader who can balance compliance, curriculum leadership and student-centred decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead QCE and senior assessment processes, ensuring compliance with QCAA requirements
  • Oversee student management for Years 11 and 12, including attendance, engagement, behaviour support and wellbeing processes
  • Use data to monitor student progress, identify risk and implement targeted interventions
  • Collaborate with guidance officers, year level leaders and external agencies to support diverse student pathways
  • Contribute to whole-school planning, policy development and continuous improvement
  • Engage effectively with parents and caregivers regarding senior schooling and student progress
