Guidance Officer - Foxwell State Secondary College

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Guidance Officer to join our vibrant team and contribute to our pursuit of success for Foxwell Learners.

You will provide professional leadership and support to school communities in developing and implementing effective programs and procedures that enhance student learning and wellbeing outcomes.

You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to design and deliver preventative and early intervention initiatives that respond to students' diverse needs, while fostering resilience and supporting the development of personal, social and lifelong learning skills.

This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

As the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience in student counselling and support, including mental health, behavioural, social and emotional needs
  • Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning difficulties and disability
  • Experience in case management, including coordinating support, referrals and follow-up with students and families
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and build partnerships with teachers, parents and external agencies
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide advice in sensitive situations
  • Sound understanding of student protection, risk management and ethical practice, including confidentiality and record-keeping requirements
  • Experience supporting inclusive education, including development of individualised plans (e.g. Educational Support Plans)
  • Capacity to respond to critical incidents, complex cases and crisis situations
