This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Your opportunity:

  • Prepare and set up samples, demonstrations, equipment and scientific materials for practical classes, including preparing chemical solutions and basic laboratory equipment.
  • Safely manage chemicals, laboratory waste and scientific materials, maintaining clean, secure and compliant laboratories, preparation areas, storerooms and equipment.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, develop and update laboratory procedures, and arrange repairs or replacements for damaged or faulty equipment.
  • Support science teaching staff and students with practical activities, demonstrations, experiments, field trips and STEM initiatives, providing technical advice and prioritising tasks to support learning outcomes.
  • Manage stock, inventory, purchases, deliveries, registers, records and asset information, including chemical and hazardous substance records, budgets and orders, and liaise with suppliers, industry, other schools and laboratory staff.
