An exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and committed Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to work across Upper Coomera State College, Highland Reserve State School and Coomera Springs State School. This is a temporary full time position working across three schools.
This is an opportunity to use your workplace health and safety expertise to make a practical difference across school communities. You'll work with a diverse range of people and contribute to safer, healthier and more supportive workplaces across the school community.
The successful applicant will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, able to identify and respond to emerging risks, and committed to continuous improvement and a positive workplace safety culture.

Highland Reserve State School - Highland Reserve State School was opened in January 2009, by the then Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh. The school was built as a 21st Century Digital Learning Environment incorporating an innovative range of teaching and learning spaces, furnishings and digital technologies. Our school provides a range of learning pathways to meet the needs of all students including our Programs of Excellence in Academics and Music. We lead the way in offering educational experiences which promote growth and development of well-balanced, confident young students.
Coomera Springs State School - Established in 2008, our school offers families an extensive learning program based upon the pillars of academic development, sporting opportunities, cultural experiences, community leadership and digital citizenship. Our school campus is a safe, supporting and digitally rich learning environment where all of our students can grow and learn with confidence. We aim to work in strong and positive partnerships with our parents and wider community to ensure that not only do our students reach their full potential, but that we are preparing our students to live and compete successfully in a global, technology driven future.
Your opportunity:
This is a temporary full time position working across three schools, with the following allocation:
- 2 days per week (0.40FTE) - Upper Coomera State College
- 2 days per week (0.40FTE) - Highland Reserve State School
- 1 day per week (0.20FTE) - Coomera Springs State School
Responsibilities:
- Provide health, safety and wellbeing advice and support to school leadership and staff.
- Strengthen workplace health and safety practices and ensure compliance with the HSWMS.
- Conduct and support audits, inspections, emergency preparedness and hazard control activities.
- Support injured or ill staff through rehabilitation and return to work processes.
- Monitor WHS data to identify emerging risks and recommend improvements.
- Deliver training, inductions and awareness activities to promote a positive safety culture.
- Support the management and reporting of occupational violence and aggression incidents.
- Prepare reports, correspondence and recommendations for school leadership and HSW committees.
- Provide advice and compliance support for building fire safety, including Fire Safety Advisor duties.
- Coordinate health and safety responses and reporting during critical incidents.
