Gainsborough State School has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Head of Department (Curriculum) position being offered for 2027.

The successful candidate will work alongside an established and experienced HOD/C in providing leadership and coaching cycles within the curriculum across multiple years levels in a growing primary school with an anticipated enrolment of approximately 1050 students in 2027.

The HOD/C’s are both part of a dynamic Executive Leadership Team comprising of 3 Deputy Principals, 1 head of Inclusion, Business Manager and the Principal.

Gainsborough State School is a growing primary school in Pimpama, on the northern Gold Coast, which opened in 2021.

Serving students from Prep to Year 6, the school is committed to fostering a positive learning environment built on strong relationships, a supportive school culture and active community partnerships.

As the school continues to grow, it remains focused on supporting student learning, wellbeing and success.

Your opportunity:

The successful applicant has the opportunity work alongside an experienced and established HOD/C in providing curriculum leadership to our 43 classroom spaces. We pride ourselves on building connections with our students, staff and community and look forward to welcoming our new HOD/C in a temporary role for 2027.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead curriculum areas or whole-school programs by establishing a shared vision focused on improving learning outcomes for all students.
  • Promote socially just practices and maintain high expectations for student and staff performance.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and development to strengthen leadership and educational practice.
  • Build partnerships with students, parents, government agencies and community groups to support school priorities.
  • Apply relevant education legislation and departmental policies while strategically managing staffing, finances, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve program objectives.
