A fantastic opportunity for a recent cultural materials conservation graduate or student!
As Graduate Conservator at the State Library of Queensland you will develop & expand your skills in conservation methods working alongside our senior conservators on a wide variety of Queensland Memory heritage collections, preparing items for exhibition, client access and storage.
The diversity of our collection includes not only books, photographs, and paper, but objects, paintings, textiles and audio-visual.
This work opportunity will offered for a period of two years.
To be considered for this role you are required to have graduated, within the last two years (PO2) or be graduating within the next 12 months (PO1), with relevant tertiary qualifications in materials conservation.

As a member of our Preservation team, you will learn and expand your expertise, gaining hands-on experience in a working conservation lab. A key focus of this role will be to assist the team to preserve the State Library's heritage collections to ensure they will be available for Queenslanders in the future.
You will undertake specialised conservation treatments in accordance with the AICCM Code of Ethics and Practice and under the guidance and supervision of experienced Conservators. This will involve examination, condition reporting, documentation, developing treatment proposals, and completion of conservation treatments on collection items for exhibition, loan, digitisation and client access.
You will assist with applied research to respond to specific preservation challenges. Includes participating and contributing to preventive preservation activities and investigating and implementing new and emerging conservation techniques for the treatment of collection items.
