State Library of Queensland is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven leader to lead its Philanthropy and Partnerships branch and drive sustainable funding outcomes that support the organisation's long-term impact.

As Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering funding strategies spanning general giving, philanthropic campaigns, grants and sponsorship. Reporting to the State Librarian and CEO, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape organisational priorities through a strong focus on revenue diversification, stakeholder engagement and strategic influence.

Working closely with the State Librarian and CEO, you will lead the Philanthropy and Partnerships branch to build, maintain and nurture relationships with new and existing donors, sponsors and supporters. You will also support the Queensland Library Foundation Council to be well-informed and positioned to provide advocacy, assess priorities and drive fundraising outcomes aligned to State Library's strategic direction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and execution of philanthropy and partnerships strategies that deliver sustainable revenue growth and a diversified funding pipeline aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Providing high-level, evidence-based advice to the State Librarian and CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Queensland Library Foundation Council on funding strategies, investment opportunities and priorities.
  • Building and leveraging influential relationships with major donors, corporate partners, philanthropic trusts and stakeholders to secure significant gifts, sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of fundraising campaigns, grant programs and partnership initiatives, including impact reporting and performance evaluation.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team, fostering capability, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthening organisational cultural capability through inclusive leadership and practices that promote diversity, equity and respect.

About the branch
The Philanthropy and Partnerships branch leads the development and delivery of philanthropic, grant and sponsorship funding to support the maintenance, enhancement and expansion of State Library's collections, services and spaces. The branch plays a critical role in securing sustainable funding to preserve and grow Queensland's cultural and documentary heritage.

About you
You are an experienced leader with a strong track record in philanthropy, partnerships or revenue generation within complex environments. You bring highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate strategy into outcomes. Your experience in securing grants, cultivating donor relationships and delivering campaigns positions you to drive meaningful impact.
