About the role
It is the purpose of this role to provide opportunities and skills that facilitate the transition from advanced trainee to consultant. Established experience in this role is desirable, training will be provided if you have less experience but a keen interest. Our ideal candidate will be someone who will be willing to carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values. The fellow manages inpatients and outpatients with complex nutritional needs and plays an important role in all facets of their care, including endoscopy services. The fellow will also manage patients in neuro-gastroenterology multidisciplinary clinic (NMC) and Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) services and provide appropriate clinical support to other members of the unit. The fellow is well supported by other team members and is expected to demonstrate some autonomy in dealing with other professionals involved in the management of patients with perturbations in Nutrition, NMC and IBD. The fellow's position also involves a clinical research component and has been designed to provide opportunities to pursue and develop research projects within the unit.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Management of all facets of care for outpatients and inpatients with complex nutritional needs including parenteral and enteral Nutrition, NMC, IBD and general GE
- Provide Nutrition, NMC, IBD and general GE consultation services with support of clinical lead and multidisciplinary team co-workers within the Specialist Nutrition Support Team (SNST) and other teams
- Provide expert technical advice/ skills in relation to both central venous access devices and enteral feeding devices inserted either endoscopically or by interventional radiology
- Opportunity to develop skills in Oesophageal Physiological studies (OPS – manometry, pH, Bravo), anorectal Physiology studies (APS) or Intestinal US (IUS)
- Participate in the ongoing development of a comprehensive Nutrition Service at the RBWH and within the Metro North Hospital and Health Service through maintaining key working relationships with key stakeholders to support innovative service development and expansion.
