About the role
The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services across the continuum of care to patients and families of STARS, as part of an interprofessional, collaborative team.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver high-quality occupational therapy clinical services within rehabilitation caseloads in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Organise and prioritise allocated patient caseload and undertake routine occupational therapy tasks within well-established clinical protocols and according to approved clinical management plans to ensure appropriate and effective patient management.
- As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making, under the clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
- Work cooperatively and effectively within the occupational therapy and interprofessional team and with patients and their families to provide value-based and collaborative care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, assistants, students, and researchers across the hospital, home, school, community, and other settings across the state, as relevant to your service area, in order to meet service goals and enhance health outcomes.
- Provide student education and clinical practice supervision for less experienced practitioners, commensurate with the level of experience, as well as direction to assistants, support staff, and work experience students, under the guidance of senior clinical practitioners.
Health Equity
It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.
Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged and welcomed.
