Tell me more...Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS) is offering the unique opportunity to the join Torres & Cape Nursing Relief Pool to work at Primary Health Care Centres (PHCC) within the TCHHS as a Clinical Nurse (CN). The Clinical Nurse role will assist in the provision of Acute and Primary Health Care Services within the remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities within TCHHS. Although recruited primarily to a PHCC, the role may be required to work in any of the PHCC's across TCHHS in response to operational demands.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Provide nursing care to a group of recipients of Primary Healthcare Services across remote TCHHS.
  • Act as a role model for registered nurses and unregulated and unregulated healthcare workers in the provision of holistic primary healthcare.
  • Use evidence-based clinical practice to facilitate positive outcomes for recipients of Primary and Acute healthcare services.
  • Participates in a multidisciplinary team, building a positive culture of safety, collaborative, accountability and performance within philosophy of patient and family centre care in Primary Health Care Facility.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered nurse and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • Participate in an on-call roster as applicable.
  • Potential applicants are advised that Section 63-1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health to seek a criminal conviction record report from the Australian Federal Police; conduct a search of bankruptcy records; and conduct previous employment and referee checks.
