Join us as the Director of Nursing - Kowanyama in one of Australia's most remote and culturally rich regions, where your leadership can shape the future of remote healthcare.
This is more than a job—it's a calling. As the Director of Nursing, you will lead a committed clinical team delivering culturally, patient-centered care in a uniquely challenging environment. You will oversee clinical standards, staff development, facility management and service delivery in a region where health outcomes matter deeply, and every decision makes a visible impact.
Kowanyama – Where the outback meets the wetlands. Set on the western Cape York Peninsula, Kowanyama is surrounded by vast floodplains, winding waterways, and stunning savannah. It's remote, raw, and rich with Aboriginal culture—a place where nature and community thrive side by side.
The Challenges:
Working in a remote setting means limited resources, geographic isolation, and the need for flexibility and resilience. Access to immediate support or major services may be limited, and you'll be called on to wear many hats.

- Professional Growth: Gain invaluable leadership experience in a diverse and complex clinical setting, plus you'll develop unique skills in adaptability, cultural engagement, and remote resourcefulness—abilities rarely called for in metro settings, but invaluable in real-world healthcare.
- Lifestyle and Connection: Live and work in a tight-knit community rich with culture and tradition.
- Generous Remuneration Package inlcuding but not limited to;
- Base salary comprising between $155,831.00 - $163,382.00 per annum – you may be eligible for additional benefits – refer to Workplace benefits | Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service
