🌿Senior Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician (Permanent) – Based in Bamaga 🌿
Ready for a meaningful role that starts with a yarn? Jonathan Schoone, (07) 4069 0695 would love to hear your story and answer any question you may have about the role.
Join us where your contribution goes further than the clinic.
Are you a passionate mental health professional ready to take your career to one of Australia's most unique and rewarding locations? We're seeking a Senior Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician to join our dedicated team in Bamaga, a remote community at the northern tip of Queensland's Cape York Peninsula.
Living and working in Bamaga is not your typical job placement — it's a lifestyle, a community, and a calling.
Situated just 40km from the northernmost point of mainland Australia, Bamaga is a culturally rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. It presents unique challenges, including remoteness, limited access to specialist services, and the need for deeply culturally responsive care — but it also offers unmatched professional growth, community connection, and purpose-driven work.
You'll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty — beaches, rainforest, and rich traditional lands. Bamaga is also a hub of local festivals, arts, and Torres Strait culture, with strong community ties and a focus on caring for country and kin.
About the role:
This role offers autonomy, diversity and a genuine opportunity to be a changemaker in a region where mental health services are vital. You will be supported by a broader network of clinicians and a team committed to cultural safety, continuous learning and wraparound care.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions.
- Work collaboratively with community and service partners.
- Provide clinical leadership and mentoring.
- Contribute to program development and culturally appropriate service delivery.
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities across the Northern Peninsula Area.
Torres and Cape will give you a career with purpose, plus excellent benefits and allowances;
- Base salary comprising between $128,169 .00 - $137,918 .00 per annum – you may be eligible for additional benefits – refer to Workplace benefits | Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service
- Competitive salary packaging: Generous employer superannuation contribution of 12.75% and salary packaging options Salary and benefits | Careers (health.qld.gov.au)
- Generous leave entitlements including 17.5% loading on annual leave
- Professional Development: Our training is recognised as some of the best in the world
- Relocation and accommodation incentives
Living within the Torres and Cape region means you will be able to enjoy:
- Immersing yourself in nature, from the outback to tropical rainforests, coral reefs and extraordinary landscapes.
- Short commute to work, allowing greater work/life balance
- Rich Indigenous Culture
