Tell me more... We're looking for a resilient and values-driven Allied Health Manager to lead our multi-disciplinary Child Development Service, based in tropical Cairns. This is more than just a leadership role — it's a chance to shape a high-impact service that spans some of Australia's most remote and unique communities.
Whilst this position is based in Cairns, in the early stages of the role, you will have the opportunity to travel to key communities across Cape York and the Torres Strait to better understand the settings your team works in. This initial engagement will help you build strong foundations, relationships, and insight into how best to lead and support your team.
✨ The role
You'll be leading a small, dedicated team of allied health clinicians — including Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and more — who are deeply committed to supporting children and families in the Far North. As the manager, you'll:
- Provide clinical and operational leadership
- Support team wellbeing, supervision, and development
- Drive service delivery across Cairns, Cape York, and the Torres Strait
- Collaborate with passionate partners and communities
- Deliver high-quality, culturally responsive child development care
🌴 Why Cairns?
If you're relocating from a metro area, Cairns offers a lifestyle few places can match — think reef weekends, rainforest hikes, a thriving café scene, and a genuine sense of community. You'll enjoy the best of both worlds: meaningful regional work and a vibrant tropical life.
💡 What you'll bring
- Experience in child development and/or paediatrics
- Proven leadership or team coordination experience
- A genuine commitment to cultural capability and equity
- A flexible, adventurous spirit and great sense of humour
Torres and Cape will give you a career with purpose, plus excellent benefits and allowances;
- Base salary comprising between $144,991.00 - $151,289.00 p.a – you may be eligible for additional benefits – refer to Workplace benefits | Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service
- Competitive salary packaging: Generous employer superannuation contribution of 12.75% and salary packaging options Salary and benefits | Careers (health.qld.gov.au)
- Generous leave entitlements including 17.5% loading on annual leave
- Professional Development: Our training is recognised as some of the best in the world
- Relocation incentives
