The International Operations unit is responsible for managing TIQ's overseas network consisting of two main business groups:

  • International Overseas Network: consists of approximately 108 employees located across a network of overseas offices, led by trade and investment commissioners who represent the Queensland Government and promote the state's trade and investment interests internationally.
  • International Markets and Directorate: are the Brisbane based business units responsible for supporting and working alongside TIQ's overseas network.

Your opportunity
Reporting to the Director International Operations, you will be responsible for providing high level executive secretarial, administrative and operational project support to the General Manager, International Operations Division (GMIOD) and the broader Division. You will coordinate, manage and provide quality control over workflows within the Division. You will also be required to balance conflicting priorities, work to deadlines, display a high degree of professionalism, judgement and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Your contribution (key responsibilities and accountabilities)
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Provide high level confidential administrative and operational support to the GMIOD including:
    • analysis, coordination and preparation of departmental, ministerial, parliamentary and cabinet briefings, agendas, reports, submissions and presentations/events
    • diary and travel management; monthly budget monitoring and analysis, processing expenditure approvals, invoices and accounts; reconciling monthly corporate cards
    • ensure quality control and efficient processing of all ministerial, senior executive and key stakeholder briefing materials are in place
    • undertaking research and analysis to identify a range of options to support executive decision making
    • maintaining excellent working knowledge of current matters relevant to the GMIOD.
  • Actively participate in the delivery and coordination of other business management functions and projects both domestically and internationally as required.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in all administrative documents associated with activities within the division.
  • Coordinate stakeholder responses across the division on a range of operational and policy matters.
  • In consultation with the Principal Advisor develop, implement and continuously improve office management systems including information management, filing and tracking systems.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication strategies, protocols, stakeholder negotiation and liaison activities across cultures and other private and public sector organisations.
  • Develop and foster effective relationships with key stakeholders across local, state and federal agencies, industry to continue to build commitment to long term growth.
