As our highly valued Principal Trade and Investment Officer, Tradestart, you will contribute to ensuring a bright future for Queensland, Australia and our global partners. You will do this with people who want you to grow and progress.

Reporting to the Manager, Regional Network, you will develop and maintain effective networks, consult, negotiate and liaise with key stakeholders to deliver export advisory services, and assist export ready businesses enter and grow their business internationally.

With one position based in Townsville and the other in Toowoomba, here's what your role will involve:

  • Provide high quality and practical export advice to businesses using your own experience and the networks available to you, to assist Queensland companies succeed in export markets.
  • Work with Austrade's and TIQ's overseas offices, and Queensland-based stakeholders, to examine the demand for various products and services in other countries, against the supply within Queensland, to identify trade and investment opportunities.
  • Research and analyse export (business and industry) opportunities, identifying the opportunity in markets across the world, and develop strategies and activities to deliver on state-wide trade priorities, by enabling exporters to succeed internationally.
  • Develop and foster effective relationships with key stakeholders in Queensland across the sector and industry, as well as local, state and federal agencies, to build commitment to long term growth. Leverage these relationships to co-develop and deliver industry and market development opportunities.
  • Represent Austrade and TIQ on inter-departmental, national and industry committees and missions and present and participate in key government and business forums to identify export (and related investment) opportunities where required.
