As a highly valued Principal Trade and Investment Office - Food and Agribusiness, you will contribute to ensuring a bright future for Queensland, Australia and our global partners. You will do this with people who want you to grow and progress.

Reporting to the Manager, Food and Agribusiness, you will have the opportunity to lead, develop and maintain effective networks, consult, negotiate and liaise with key stakeholders to deliver export advisory services, and assist export ready businesses grow internationally.

Based in Brisbane, here's what your role will involve: 

  • Provide high-quality, practical export advice and support to businesses, drawing on your experience and networks to help Queensland companies succeed in international markets.
  • Research and analyse food and agribusiness export (business and industry) opportunities, identifying niche markets across the world, and develop strategies and activities to deliver state-wide trade and investment priorities.
  • Develop and foster effective relationships with key stakeholders in Queensland across the sector and industry, as well as local, state and federal agencies, to build commitment to long term growth. Leverage these relationships to co-develop and deliver industry and market development opportunities.
  • Represent TIQ on inter-departmental, national and industry committees and present and participate in key government and business forums to identify investment and export opportunities.
  • Provide and update opportunity-specific information using TIQ's CRM and other protocols to enable effective delivery of TIQ's programs, initiatives and services, and regularly report business outcomes to senior management.
  • Prepare policy papers, briefs and respond concerns for Queensland exporters, including potential issues for Queensland exporters.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive experience in a trade and investment related role, with the ability to identify investment and export opportunities for Queensland.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and implement change in a client facing environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and negotiation skills, proactively keeping colleagues informed, and maintains resilience in high-pressure environments with competing priorities.
