About The Opportunity
Based in TIQ Japan office, reporting to the Commissioner you will operate in TIQ 'Japan Investment team of 3 people. You will promote the investment interests of Queensland in the Japan market through the identification, promotion and facilitation of foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities in relation priority sectors such as energy, resources, circular economy, manufacturing and infrastructure.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Work proactively to develop a pipeline of opportunities to deliver against measurable investment targets, generating strong commercial outcomes for Queensland.
  • Advance Queensland's strengths as a highly attractive destination for investors and develop and drive the FDI strategy for TIQ across Japan.
  • Manage relationships with key senior stakeholders in the Queensland and Japan investment community to ensure Queensland remains globally competitive.
  • Leveraging the badge of government to establish trusted relationships, you will provide strategic input to develop for engagement and assist Queensland organisations to access opportunities across Japan.
  • Initiate and manage investment activities in the Japan market and coordinate and collaborate with TIQ colleagues in Queensland as required.
  • With the Director, Investment, manage investment related missions and Ministerial visits including preparation of visit programs and accompanying Ministers and business delegations in Japan.
  • Guide and support Queensland companies to pursue opportunities in Japan including providing market intelligence, business leads, advice, introductions, vetting of partners and assessing opportunities.
  • Provide after care to major investors in Queensland and target new additional major investors into key industry sectors.
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with stakeholder groups across the region and provide strategic advice on investment issues and opportunities for Queensland in Japan.
  • Work closely with, and support, Queensland agencies, industry groups and research and policy groups that are seeking to co-operate with counterpart organisations in Japan including through co-operation agreements.
  • Provide accurate and timely market intelligence and strategic advice to Queensland agencies, companies and industries about economic development and the business situation in Japan.

To be eligible for consideration with this opportunity, you must have:

  • Work Authorisation - be legally authorised to live and work within Japan at the time of appointment and provide the required evidence to support your eligibility.
  • Language - full professional fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) is essential for this role.
  • Security Clearance - the successful candidate must be willing to undertake a background check and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources.
