About the Opportunity

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the organisation's technology, cyber security, digital transformation, data, information management and artificial intelligence functions.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the CIO is responsible for shaping and delivering TIQ's technology and digital agenda, ensuring systems, information and capabilities remain secure, resilient and aligned with strategic priorities. This is a unique opportunity to influence executive decision-making, drive enterprise transformation and support Queensland's global trade and investment objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Board and governance committees on technology, cyber security, digital transformation, information management and data-related matters
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Information Technology and Delivery (ITD) team
  • Drive enterprise technology, cyber security, digital, data and information management strategies
  • Champion the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence
  • Oversee major technology, digital and cyber initiatives, ensuring effective governance, risk management, compliance and value for investment
  • Lead ICT sourcing, supplier relationships and contract performance
  • Build stakeholder relationships and influence organisational change
  • Strengthen cyber security, information management and data governance capabilities

You are an experienced technology executive with a strong track record leading technology, digital transformation, cyber security, data and information management functions within a government, public sector or similarly regulated environment.

You bring a contemporary leadership approach, combining strategic thinking with strong operational delivery. You can confidently navigate complex issues, influence stakeholders and provide trusted advice that supports organisational outcomes.

You have experience leading high-performing teams, driving innovation and translating complex technical concepts into practical business solutions. You can evaluate and govern emerging technologies, including AI, balancing innovation with information security, privacy, records management, ethics and regulatory obligations.

Most importantly, you are a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who is passionate about leveraging technology, data and digital capability to strengthen organisational performance and deliver meaningful outcomes.
