Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant for Urology Services demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and advanced clinical problem-solving skills and is accountable for their own clinical practice. The position provides support and direction to the multidisciplinary team in the management and care of patients within Urology, including complex case management.

About the opportunity:
Position: Clinical Nurse Consultant
Vacancy: Permanent Part-time, 28 hours per fortnight
Location: Urology Services, Townsville University Hospital

What's on offer?
Pro rata r
emuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $164,696 p.a.

  • Base salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 p.h. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (Nurse Grade 7).
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading and 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options and flexible working arrangements may be available.

Skills and experience

  • Ability to provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience and understanding of Urology surgical procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate the Urology patient management plan in conjunction with the medical team.
  • Ability to liaise with the Outpatient Services bookings and Elective Surgical Bookings to ensure treatment within recommended timeframes.
  • High level of interpersonal, consultative, negotiation oral and written communication skills to facilitate the patient journey.
  • Ability to maintain own professional development portfolio.

Role requirements
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.

Highly Desirable
Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field, such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
