Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.

About the opportunity:
Position: Staff Specialist Anaesthetist or Senior Staff Specialist Anaesthetist (Cardiac and Thoracic)
Vacancy: Permanent full-time
Location: Anaesthetic Department, Surgical Services Group, Townsville Hospital and Health Service
The role requires the applicant to undertake a broad range of anaesthetic and perioperative clinical practice in addition to cardio-thoracic anaesthesia and there are opportunities to develop areas of special interest across diverse sub-specialities.

Enjoy a generous remuneration package valued up to $496,915 p.a., including:
- Salary range: $210,332 to $266,677 p.a. (L18 – L27)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary)
- Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
- Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:
- Qualified as a medical practitioner with specialist qualifications and registration, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in the appropriate discipline.
- All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the Clinical Services Capability Framework for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.
- A class C motor vehicle licence.
- This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.
- Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
