Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.
The Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Coordinator is a member of the Townsville Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Youth team. The Youth Team provides a specialised service for young people (8 to 24 years old), families, and communities dealing with substance-related problems.

About the opportunity:
Position: Youth AOD Harm Reduction Coordinator
Vacancy: Permanent Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
Location: Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Services, Townsville
What's on offer?
Remuneration package of up to $157,360 p.a.
- Salary range: $128,169 to $137,918 p.a. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (HP4).
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options and flexible working arrangement may be available.
About the role
- Coordinate health responses that involve and support community-based services to build community engagement and partnerships.
- Work collaboratively to map referral pathways between Townsville Hospital and Health Service, and community-based services through consultation and engagement.
- Provide support and assistance to young people, their families, and carers to understand and navigate the health and social services, including service linkages.
- Provide harm reduction interventions, including education, advocacy, and outreach for young people, their families and carers, and communities at increased risk of AOD-related harm.
Role requirements
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
