Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.
Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.
The Electronics Technician will undertake such electronics work as may be required in the construction and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment within Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

About the opportunity
Position: Electronics Technician
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary Full-time up to 08/05/2026 (with the possibility of extension - not exceeding an additional six (6) months)
Location: Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services, Townsville University Hospital

Remuneration package of up to $9354 p.m.
- Salary range: $3481.60 - $3770.80 p.f. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (TO3).
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading and 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

About the role
- Technical support and operation of electronics-based systems within the Townsville HHS including; Nurse Call, Building Management, Security Access Control and Closed-Circuit Television, Fire Detection and Evacuation, Audio Visual (patient entertainment and Clinical functions), Radio communications, Paid Parking and Parking Infrastructure, Structured data cabling systems, and other Electronic/Electrical equipment as required.
- Assist the Trade Coordinator Electronics in carrying out corrective maintenance and project work, ensure allocated work is carried out promptly and efficiently.
- Provide support to Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services team in the provision of a professional, timely and cost effective service to a diverse clientele.
Role requirements
- Possession of a diploma, advanced diploma or agreed equivalent from an Australian University, Registered Training Organisation (e.g., Trade Certificate coupled with further training and/or relevant experience), or an overseas qualification deemed equivalent by the Australian Government and/or relevant registration body.
- Restricted Electrical Licence (QLD).
- Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
Highly regarded
- Unrestricted Full Electrical Fitter, Electrical Mechanic Licence.
- Open cablers registration coupled with relevant endorsements.
- Relevant experience and/or certified training in operation and maintenance, fault finding, and repair of Significant Electronic Systems and Equipment, ICT software applications and Engineering Network Infrastructure in a healthcare environment.
