Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.
Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.
This position includes frequent and repetitive lifting, manual handling of medical equipment and patients. Appropriate manual handling training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to work am and pm shifts.

About the opportunity
Position: Operating Theatre Assistant
Vacancy: Permanent Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
Location: Operating Theatres, Townsville University Hospital

Remuneration package of up to $80,680 p.a.
- Salary range: $67,462 - $70,712 p.a. (OO3)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About the role
- Assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating tables using appropriate equipment.
- Assist with Perioperative antiseptic preparation, limb support and manipulation, irrigation fluids, and basic cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.
- Apply cast, splints and other appliances to patients as directed.
- Cleaning of operating theatres and associated areas in accordance to the Queensland Health Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines.
Role requirements
Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
