This Expression of Interest collects a variety of information that will help the Townsville Hospital and Health Service identify potentially suitable applicants for future Pharmacy Assistant employment opportunities.

If deemed suitable your details will remain in the Clinical Talent Pool for a period of 12 months, and you will be contacted further by the Pharmacy Department at the time an opportunity arises.

Roles to be filled through this recruitment process will be of a casual nature.

About your opportunity

To contribute to patient care by providing a high standard of delivery of medication management services within The Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).

To work collaboratively within a team to complete technical and support tasks under the supervision of Pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Assistants. This includes drug distribution, stock management, prescription preparation and related activities.

Requirements:

  • Highly Desirable Pharmacy Assistant Certificate Level III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support OR Certificate Level III Community Pharmacy from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of HLTPHA001 – Maintain pharmaceutical imprest/ward stock from an approved training organisation based on nationally accredited competencies, or equivalent.
  • If Pharmacy Assistant Certificate Level III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support OR Certificate Level III Community Pharmacy and HLTPHA001 Maintain pharmaceutical imprest/ward stock has not been completed, then appointment will be at CA2 classification in the Pharmacy Assistant Training position until successful completion of the qualifications.
  • This position may involve the manufacture of aseptic and/or chemotherapeutic pharmaceuticals.
  • This position may include a roster for seven (7)-day extended hours service at The Townsville University Hospital as part of a team of pharmacy staff.
  • This is a (VPD) risk role.
