Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced and client focused Clinical Nurse to join the Surgical Clinical Decision Unit located at Townsville University Hospital campus.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 64 hours per fortnight


The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide clinical expertise, support, leadership and education to nursing staff within the unit and effective communication with the NUM and CNC ensuring quality patient care.

About the opportunity  

The role of the Clinical Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.  The Clinical Nurse applies critical thinking across all domains which include provision of care, support of systems, education, research and professional leadership.  

The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide clinical expertise, support, leadership and education to all nursing staff within the unit and communicate effectively with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and all members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care is always provided at all times to all SCDU consumers.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (NG6-1)
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata for part-time) with 17.5% loading
  • Professional Development leave
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant Qualification.
    • Experience in treating patients requiring tracheostomy care desirable.
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis
