General Surgery – Townsville University Hospital
Located in Northern Australia's largest tertiary hospital, the General Surgery Unit offers advanced surgical training in hepatobiliary, upper GI, bariatric and pancreatic procedures. Fellows work across public and private sectors, contributing to clinical excellence and multidisciplinary care.

Competitive salary and benefits
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance: 50% of base salary
- Regional and rural attraction allowance: 5% of base salary
- Motor vehicle allowance: $21,000–$25,500 p.a.
- Professional development allowance: $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
About your opportunity
As a General Surgery Fellow, you'll gain hands-on experience in complex procedures, lead ward rounds, supervise junior staff, and contribute to research and teaching. This role is ideal for surgeons preparing for consultant-level practice.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, current registration or eligibility with the Medical Board of Australia.
- This is a VPD risk role requiring vaccination evidence.
