As the Eat Walk Engage Allied Health Assistant you will contribute to patient care and support by providing a defined range of screening assessments and treatments for patients.

• Two permanent, flexible part-time positions available (38 hours per fortnight)

About the role

The purpose of this role is to contribute to patient care by providing clinical support tasks to increase patient nutrition, cognitive stimulation, mobility and functional independence, as delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of health professionals participating in the Eat Walk Engage (EWE) program at the Ipswich Hospital.  The EWE program is a multi-professional approach to prevention of delirium and early restorative care in older patients.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• A patient focus and ability to work empathetically and respectfully with older patients, including those with functional and cognitive disability, and their carers; manages conflict appropriately.
• Accountability; works effectively to ensure work is of a high standard.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with a good understanding of own scope of practice in a complex and demanding work environment; work collaboratively with the Eat Walk Engage Program Manager/s.
• Ability to provide a defined range of assessments and treatments as prescribed and delegated by the multidisciplinary team; ability to identify and support quality improvement activities.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent is highly desirable but not mandatory
• Experience in care of older people is highly desirable
• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
