About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist interested in working with children and adolescents living with chronic and complex health conditions. The Psychologist Senior Paediatrics works with the Paediatric Diabetes Multidisciplinary Team based at the Ripley Satellite Health Clinic. The team consists of a Paediatric Endocrinologist, Nurse Practitioner, Diabetes Nurse Educators, Dietitian, and Social Worker. There is also opportunity to work with other paediatric medical caseloads at Ipswich Hospital.
The role of the Psychologist Senior Paediatrics is to provide clinical assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention to maximise the health and psychological well-being of children and adolescents living with chronic or complex medical conditions, and their families, as well as providing clinical leadership within the hospital and community health settings. The Senior Psychologist Paediatrics sits within the Ipswich Psychology Service, which is based at Ipswich Hospital.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- High level clinical expertise and skill in psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment in service provision to children, adolescents, and their families
- Experience working within a health setting and/or with children and adolescents living with chronic or complex health and medical conditions.
- Knowledge of evidence-based psychology services for adolescents and children.
- High level communication skills and experience in communicating within and/or with multi-disciplinary teams and other key stakeholders.
- Commitment to the development of professional knowledge and expertise through active learning and engaging in professional development, and a willingness to contribute to the team through sharing of knowledge and expertise, including through providing supervision.
Mandatory Requirements:
- General registration or eligibility for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is mandatory (National Accreditation and Regulation Law 2009).
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
