About the role

The purpose of this role is to deliver high quality Physiotherapy service within a multidisciplinary environment, at The Park – Centre for Mental Health, to optimise health outcomes in accordance with the organisational goals.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Work autonomously to deliver a high quality, accountable and effective Physiotherapy service within a multidisciplinary team framework in a Forensic Mental Health setting.
  • Provide evidence- based Physiotherapy clinical services (including assessment, planning, intervention, and care co-ordination), to facilitate positive patient outcomes.
  • Initiate and implement the development and/ or review of physiotherapy clinical practices, procedures and protocols in the work area using the principles of evidence-based practice.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience across the spectrum of physiotherapy practice that can be independently applied to the mental health setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work flexibly to respond to changing work priorities and an ability to provide advanced level advice within specific expertise in the context of a tertiary Forensic Mental Health Service.
  • Ability to use expertise and evidence-based practice to facilitate, clinical decisions in response to problems of significant scope within a complex caseload.
  • Recognised expertise, knowledge and skills obtained through significant professional development activities, post graduate education or formal qualification(s).
  • High level knowledge, skills, professional judgement, and ability to apply contemporary evidence-based physiotherapy clinical practice.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, implement and evaluate service improvement initiatives and to provide clinical supervision, operational coordination, and education to students on rotation.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
