Our Health Service is expanding and so is our Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services Team!

• This role within the Hospital in the Home team, is your opportunity to serve as a positive role model to other consumers, carers and families and be open to sharing personal lived experience of assisting a person with mental health needs. This role will connect to carers, consumers, and staff providing a positive example of recovery and as a source of information on their personal experience of managing their mental health.

• Temporary Part-time opportunity

• 32hrs per fortnight

About the role

This role will work under general direction to facilitate the development, planning and delivery of support services to consumers of the mental health service.

This role utilises their lived experience of mental health issues to model recovery strategies to enable service providers and NGOs develop a better understanding of the recovery framework to achieve the best outcomes for consumers.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of recovery principles and strength-based approach in working with consumers accessing mental health services
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to advocate for the consumer perspective to identify service improvement.
  • Ability to co-facilitate education and deliver information to mental health service users.
  • Ability to share lived experience of recovery to assist consumers, carers and staff within the role.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues, or a personal lived/living experience of caring for a person with mental health and/or substance use issues.
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
