About the role
The Medical Assessment & Planning Unit is a 23 bed Unit, with telemetry capabilities. The Model of Care includes a dedicated physician led medical team who together with a dedicated multidisciplinary team provides quality patient care through the rapid assessment of patients admitted to the unit. The unit targets specific medical patients with who with early senior clinician assessment, and collaborative multidisciplinary input are able to be safely discharged within an expected time frame. We offer a service that is committed to the delivery of excellent, patient and family centred care, every day, every interaction. It is an expectation that all staff strive to deliver high quality care, to every patient, at every opportunity. Our unit focuses on continuation of care and optimisation of health and functionality.
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Acute Care Nursing within an Acute setting.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Acute Medical Nursing delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in the multidisciplinary team to identify areas for improvement in work practices and outcomes and contribute to the continued improvement of policies and procedures.
- Ability to prioritise clinical and related administrative duties, including effective and efficient planning and organisation of complex caseloads with proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
- Demonstrates a strong team commitment through ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level.

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
