About the role

The purpose of this role is to conduct high-level clinical/ neuropsychological assessments, and brief interventions beyond routine level of practice responding to consumers and their families/carers who are impacted by acute/severe mental health problems within a multidisciplinary team in the Older Persons Community Mental Health Service (OPCMHS). This role undertakes duties of a complex and varied nature with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence and is recognised as a reference point for other clinicians in the team.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to provide high quality evidence-based clinical/ neuropsychology assessments, therapy, and interventions to older persons with psychiatric disorders in the context of the biopsychosocial aspects of ageing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with consumers and their families, carers and other service providers and other mental health teams/services within a strong recovery framework and in achieving identified consumer outcomes.
  • Ability to provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced psychologists and students on postgraduate placement in accordance with the PsyBA guidelines.
  • Investment to a service (including team and discipline) through identified contributions resulting in improved service provision, better consumer outcomes and discipline specific activities.
