About the role
The Assistant Nursing Director is a key leadership role within Prison and Youth Detention Health Services that is responsible for providing senior nursing leadership and operational management within the service. This role will support the Nursing Director in managing the increased operational demand resulting from the significant growth of the service. As a part of the Prison and Youth Detention Health Services Senior Leadership Team, the focus of this role will include:
- Operational management of Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Consultants (and indirectly centre teams);
- Operational policy, procedure and documentation coordination across the service;
- Chair of Clinical Performance Improvement Committee (and associated meetings);
- Lead and contribute to clinical/operational projects including targeted initiatives and improvements that support the delivery of equitable health care for First Nations people through advocacy, collaboration and co-design; and
- Participate in operational on-call roster for Prison and Youth Detention Health Services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrates specialised knowledge and skills in complex, contemporary nursing practice, working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team to promote and enhance safe delivery of nursing care with the prison health service.
- Demonstrated advanced capability in stakeholder consultation and engagement, employing highly developed written and oral communications and highly effective interpersonal skills of consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship management that influence effectively and achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of key financial principles and effective resource management practices in complex health service environments.
- Possesses advanced clinical leadership qualities recognised to assess, guide and contribute to implementation of innovative and evidence based clinical practices.
- Provide expert professional advice to primary health care providers regarding service delivery, clinical assessments and care planning across the continuum, including risk management.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
