About the role
Registered Nurses provide primary health care to all young people aged 10-18 accommodated at the Youth Detention Centres. This nursing lead practice manages the daily health care needs of the young people with compassion and professionalism. Daily tasks include medication administration, wound care, health screening and health education with an adolescent focus.
Experience in adolescents and/or Paediatric Health would be beneficial. However, it is also a opportunity for a Nurse looking for a change from a hospital environment to a primary health care environment where they can use their skills to support the health and wellbeing of young people.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Contemporary clinical knowledge in the area of primary health care nursing, delivering competent nursing care in complex situations while providing support to other team members. Clinical experience in corrections, primary health care, emergency or rural and remote health would be highly regarded.
- Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Demonstrated high standard of written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
- Ability to provide clinical education and support.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and contribution to quality improvement processes.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
